Regularly - usually quite frequently shortly after the release of a new version - users contact me via contact form and/or guestbook entries and inform me that W10Privacy is detected as virus XYZ of anti-virus product ABC.

I understand, of course, that this is an unpleasant situation for every user, because at least for a moment you startle and doubt comes up.
Unfortunately, however, this problem cannot be solved by me.

W10Privacy can be used to read and, if necessary, change various settings in the registry, firewall and other system-relevant areas (e. g. the installed apps). Anti-virus products therefore seem to recognize the software as a virus. However, W10Privacy was developed precisely for this reason, in order to adjust the mentioned settings if necessary! It would therefore be totally counterproductive to remove functions just to reduce the frequency of false detection.

Again, clearly stated:
In W10Privacy there is definitely no virus, 100%!
Any anti-virus vendor that displays the software as a virus of any kind uses a flawed and inaccurate scan engine, which should be improved!

The only thing that might help here is that anyone who gets a virus message up will tell their anti-virus vendor that their product needs to be customized and W10Privacy does not contain a virus. My time available for W10Privacy is limited and I don't intend to make time-consuming statements on this topic, emails and guestbook entries will be ignored in the future - I just want to use the time more sensibly!

Even in future versions, nothing will change in the described facts: Absolutely every virus message is a false-positive one. This is where "incompetent" anti-virus manufacturers should be pilloried! No one will be able to prove that W10Privacy contains a virus - because there is no virus! It's that simple! :-)

If there are still uncertainties in my statement on the subject, I am happy to accept suggestions and include them in this text.
